CONTEXT #
This guide describes how to solve a synchronization error in the EG Ajour app caused by an authentication error. The error appears with the message “The synchronization failed due to an authentication error. Check your username and password, and try again.”
The app works offline by default and therefore uses your latest valid login information, which it has saved locally on the device. If your password or email is subsequently changed on the web but not updated in the app, a mismatch occurs between the login information saved in the app and the information that is valid on the server. The app only detects this when it tries to synchronize, and the synchronization therefore fails with an authentication error.
RELEVANCE #
You need this guide if you try to synchronize data in the app but get an authentication error instead of a completed synchronization. By updating your username or password directly in the app’s system setup, you can solve the error and complete the synchronization.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS #
- You must have a system added under “Select System” in the app.
- You must know your correct password and username for the system in question. If you are in doubt, you can use the “Reset Password” function.
- Your device must have an active internet connection.
GUIDE (step by step) #
Step 1: When the synchronization fails, the message “The synchronization failed due to an authentication error. Check your username and password, and try again.” is displayed. Tap “Back to Ajour” to return to the project overview.
Step 2: Tap the Menu icon ☰ at the top left to open the menu.
Step 3: Tap Logout. The “Select System” screen opens with an overview of your added systems.
Step 4: Tap the info icon (i) next to the system where the synchronization failed. The “Edit system” panel opens.
Step 5: Tap the “Password” field, and enter your correct password. System name and username/email are locked and cannot be edited here.
Note: If you are in doubt about your password, you can tap “Reset Password” to have a new one sent to you, instead of guessing.
Note: If you need to change your username, you have to tap “Add system”.
Step 6: Tap “Save” when the password has been entered. The button is grey and inactive until something has been typed in the field. The app briefly shows “Loading data…”, after which you automatically return to the “Select System” screen.
Step 7: Tap the system.
Step 8: Navigate back to your project overview, and tap the synchronization icon (the two curved arrows) at the top right to try the synchronization again.
Step 9: Select the desired synchronization option, and tap “Synchronize”. If your login information is now correct, the app completes the synchronization, and you see status messages such as “Fetching drawings” and “Fetching registration statuses”, while the progress is updated towards 100%.
Step 10: When the synchronization is complete, the message “Synchronization successful” is displayed, and you automatically return to the project overview.
NEXT STEPS #
- Review the synchronized registrations to confirm that your data is up to date.
- See the general guide “Synchronization of the EG Ajour app” for a description of the three synchronization options.
