Context #
The guide covers the web function “Change type” in AjourInspect & QA, which lets you change the registration type on one or more existing registrations. The flow takes place via a context menu and a dialog box with step-by-step selection of new type, group and category.
Relevance #
Use this guide when you have created a registration with the wrong type, or when a registration must be moved to a different registration type – for example from “Defect” to “Supervisory”. The function is particularly useful for bulk changes, where several registrations must change type at once.
Prerequisites and requirements #
- You have access to AjourInspect & QA
- You have permissions to “View” and “Edit” the registration(s) under Inspect/QA in user administration
- You have the required licence to change to the relevant registration type
- There is at least one registration in the selected project
- The registration(s) do not have the status “Completed”
- You know which type the registration is to be changed to
Guide #
Step 1 – Select the relevant project
Select the project in the project field at the top left. The list is updated and shows registrations linked to the selected project.
Step 2 – Open the registration list
Click the registration type you want to work with in the tab at the top (for example “Defect” or “Supervisory” or “QA”). The list of registrations is shown in the main view.
Step 3 – Open the context menu on a registration
Right-click anywhere on the registration you want to change the type of. A context menu appears with several action options.
Step 4 – Select “Change type”
Click “Change type” in the context menu. The “Type” dialog box opens.
Step 5 – Select which registrations are to be changed
Under “Select registrations” you choose one of two options:
- Selected – changes the registration(s) you selected before you right-clicked
- All – changes all registrations that appeared in the list view before you right-clicked (All filtered registrations)
Important: Registrations you do not have edit permission for will not be changed – regardless of your choice here.
Step 6 – Select new type
Click the dropdown under “Choose new type” and select the desired registration type – for example “Supervisory”, “QA”, “Project” or “Preregistration” or “Defect”.
Note: As soon as you select a new type, additional fields are shown in the dialog box.
Step 7 – Select group
Click the dropdown under “Select group” and select the group the registration is to be linked to under the new type.
Step 8 – Select category (optional)
If the selected group contains categories, the dropdown “Choose Category” is shown. Select the desired category and/or the relevant checklist.
Tip: Selecting a category is not required.
Step 9 – Save the changes
Click “Save”. A confirmation window appears with the text: “You are about to change the type of SELECTED or ALL registrations. Are you sure you want to continue?”
Step 10 – Confirm
Click “OK” to carry out the change. The system processes the request and displays a confirmation message: “Changing registration type is done”. Click “OK” to close the message.
Important: Changing the type has two automatic consequences:
- The registration gets a new number
- The status is reset to “Created”
Step 11 – Verify the change
Switch to the registration type you changed to (for example the “Supervisory” tab). The changed registration is now shown here with a new registration number and the status “Created”. You can open the registration log to see the full history of the change.
Next steps #
- Check the registration log – open the log on the changed registration to confirm that the type and number change has been recorded correctly
- Update status – since the status is automatically set to “Created”, you may need to update the status to the correct step in your workflow
- Adjust permissions – if you have experienced that registrations were locked for editing, you can review user permissions under User administration and check the settings under “Edit”
