CONTEXT #
This guide describes how to use the enhanced camera in the EG Ajour app in the Inspect & QA module to take and attach photos to a registration.
RELEVANCE #
When you are out in the field and need to document a registration, e.g. a defect or a safety round, you need to be able to take clear photos directly in the app without having to switch to another camera app. The enhanced camera makes it easier to take several photos in a row, control light, zoom and photo format, and add markings to the photo before it is saved on the registration.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS #
- You must have access to the EG Ajour app and be logged in
- You must have opened the registration you want to add photos to
- The app must have access to the device’s camera
- The “Enhanced camera” setting must be enabled
Important: If the “Enhanced camera” setting is not turned on, a simple camera view opens instead, without the extended functions. Here only a flash icon is shown in the top corner, while a bar at the bottom of the screen shows a close button (X), the mode name “PHOTO” and a button for switching between the front and rear camera. In this simple view you cannot select the photo format, and no editing view for adding markings opens after the photo is taken. The rest of this guide assumes that “Enhanced camera” is enabled.
GUIDE (step by step) #
Step 1: Open the registration you want to add photos to in EG Ajour Inspect & QA.
Step 2: Tap the camera icon in the description field to open the camera. Please note: If “Enhanced camera” is enabled, you see an extended camera view with more options at the top. If the function is not enabled, you see the simple view described above instead.
Step 3: Point the camera at what you want to document. Use the buttons at the top to switch between the front and rear camera, turn the flash off, on, or to automatic, or use the torch, and to select the photo format, e.g. 4:3, 1:1 or 16:9.
Step 4: Tap the shutter button to take a photo. Please note: You can take several photos in a row without the camera view closing between each photo by tapping “Add more”.
Step 5: When you have taken the photo, an editing view opens where you can add annotations. Use the tools at the top to:
- undo changes with the circular arrow
- draw freehand with the pen icon,
- insert shapes such as Line, Arrow, Double arrow, Rectangle or Oval
- crop the photo with the frame icon
- add text with the T icon
Step 6: Select a color in the color palette at the bottom, and use the slider on the left edge to adjust the line thickness, if relevant.
Step 7: Tap “Add more” if you want to take additional photos for the same registration, or tap “Save” to save the photo or photos.
Tip: Tap “Cancel” instead if you want to leave the editing without saving.
Step 8: Check that the photos are now shown as thumbnails below the description field on the registration.
NEXT STEPS #
- Edit an already attached photo further – see “Edit registration photo (app)”
- Change the status of the registration when the documentation is complete
- Add a description in the subject field or a comment to the registration if the photos require further explanation
