CONTEXT #
This guide describes how, in AjourInspect & QA (web), you copy the content of a project group – categories, subcategories and control schemas – from one project directly to a project group in another project.
RELEVANCE #
You need this guide if you have built a project group with categories and control schemas in one project, and you subsequently want to reuse the same setup in another project without rebuilding it manually from scratch.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS #
- You must have the project permission “AjourInspect / QA Edit categories” in both the source and destination project
- The project group you want to copy content from must already contain the categories you want to transfer
- The destination project must already have a project group linked that you want to copy the category into – you can only choose among groups that are already linked to the destination project
- If the destination project does not yet have a relevant project group, you must first add one (e.g. via Import from system) before you can copy categories into it
GUIDE (step by step) #
Step 1: Open the source project. Click the AjourInspect & QA module, select the source project, and click Categories/schema (top right) to enter Project Setup.
Step 2: Find the project group whose categories you want to transfer.
Step 3: Select the category or categories you want to copy. If you want to copy several categories at once, hold down Ctrl or Shift and click the desired categories before you right-click. Then right-click, and select Copy.
Step 4: Select Project as the destination for the copy.
Step 5: Select the destination project.
Step 6: Select the project group in the destination project that the category/categories are to be copied to. Note that only groups that are already linked to the destination project can be selected here.
Step 7: Click OK. The selected categories – with any subcategories and control schemas – are now copied to the group in the other project.
Step 8: If you have more categories under other groups that you also want to transfer, repeat Step 3 to Step 7 for these.
Step 9: Switch to the destination project, and check in Categories/schema that all expected categories, subcategories and control schemas have been included.
NEXT STEPS #
- Check the result in the destination project, and correct any naming or order of the copied categories
- If the destination project lacked a relevant project group, see the guide on adding a project group (Import from system) before you copy categories
- If the group is going to be used in many projects in the future, it may be easier to make it a system group instead
