AjourObjects getting started

This is a complete guide on how to get structured, quality-assured, and published content for the users in your organization.

We recommend that content be maintained in the oldest version of Revit in use in the company. AjourObjects is developed with a technique which means that Revit families/warehouses are trimmed and therefore quick to update when a user inserts a type from the search function.

There is content that must be adapted to each individual Revit version and we, of course, recommend that they be kept in the individual Revit versions to which they have been adapted. Revit comes with a notification if the content needs adaptation to different versions. Feel free to contact us if you have many of those families, we have processes that you can work with, so you can control quality and functionality in such special cases.

Capturing content workflow

Initially, you will have to find the company’s various libraries (folders), warehouses, and preferably old projects, which contain the typical objects that you use in the company which must be uploaded to AjourObjects.

Read the “AjourObjects user-guide” under the section Family administration.

Use the “View Type Overview” function. It gives an overview of what needs to be uploaded.

Upload content project by project until you have emptied all the desired system and RFA families up into the cloud.

Cleaning system families

System families, Basic Wall, Roof, Floor, etc. are now uploaded and there are certainly many duplicates as well as many parameters that should not be there. Therefore, the next step is to ensure quality and adapt the system families so that they match your requirements for quality and contain the properties of a standard building component.

Workflow without AjourCollab

Go to the search dialogue and open the family warehouse you want for quality assurance and adapt types on

Save a local version of the family warehouse. In the local file, you delete duplicates as well as uniform naming, shading, parameters, etc. “Create e.g. Schedules” to give an overview of content etc. The file is trimmed and you are ready to upload the customized and quality-assured content. Go to upload. Find the family you want to upload to – In this case, it’s Basic Wall. See the image below

AjourObjects lists the existing types in the AjourObjects warehouse in the column “Existing”. You will see the types you have deleted in the local project are missing in the column on the left. In this case, select the phrase “Exclude” (2)

On types you have renamed, you can see the old name under existing. In this case, select the setting “Use new version” (1)

Press “OK” and the fixes are now uploaded to the private cloud and everyone has access to the fixes immediately

Workflow with AjourCollab

Use AjourCollab to control parameters and values on the warehouse. In order for AjourCollab and Objects to upload data on parameters, they must be shared or build-in, e.g. “keynote” or “Fire Rating”

Create a Revit project without template and save the file to a location which you and other admins can access

Subsequently, you open each AjourObjects warehouse from the search dialogue and copy the types into the empty project so that they are listed row by row, as shown in the picture

Now that all types are gathered in a single content file/warehouse, you can start deleting duplicates as well as uniform naming, shading etc.

RFA families, which also need added parameters or data corrected, must also be inserted into the project file from the search dialogue or in the traditional way. Remember the building part families/types must be models and retail items, tags, etc. Also must be deployed on a plane view in order for them to be connected with AjourCollab

Data management with AjourCollab

Go to AjourCollab and create a project. From this project, you can now manage data on the project/total warehouse.

Standard data

Type comment, standard classification (without type Id´s) Keynote texts with multiline text or layer parameter with value lists for look-ups.

Each time there are changes to be published you upload from this file. See the section “Upload from RVT / RTE / Revit project / warehouse
